This line and the one before it (“figured it was hours because he wasn’t older”), could also be referencing the track before this one on the album, “Daydreamin'”, where the hook states “I fell asleep beneath the flowers, for a couple of hours”.

The song Daydreamin' may actually refer to a subconscious daydream Michael Young was having for the couple of hours that he was buried beneath the flowers, literally.
