Meaning

Large Professor shed some light on this line in a 2010 interview. The incident occurred in Washington DC in the early nineties (back when DC was the murder capital of the US).

Nas and Jay-Z were on the same tour, Nas with Large Pro’s group Main Source and Jay (presumably) with The Jaz. After their show was cut short by promoters, angry fans followed the rappers back to the tour bus. Taking no chances with the DC crowd, young Hov produced a Tec-9 semi-automatic from a duffel bag.

Extra P didn’t say what happened next or confirm that this was Nas' first Tec, but the line is definitely based on an actual event.

Side note: Jay’s “Me! That’s who!” in the background is another reference to Tony Montana in Scarface.
