It’s forty days, forty nights if I’m making it rain
Dre won’t do it, he’ll over-do it. A reference to the story of Noah’s Arc, where God made it rain for 40 days and 40 nights, thus flooding the earth.
This line could also be interpreted with Dre’s own discography in mind. There’s been a long “drought” between Dre’s albums. Seven years between The Chronic and 2001, and Dre’s been working on Detox for over a decade now. To end this drought, Dre’s going to need to bring some serious rain. Probably not the original intention of the line, but an interesting idea.
