Many “DJs” at NYC hot spots have little background in the art. CG mocks them by claiming that they can’t even be bothered with digital systems like Serato, never mind actual vinyl, and instead play songs off of devices like the tiny iPod Nano. “Cross-fading” is a setting on most iPod models where, as the last seconds of a song are playing, the beginning of the next song starts playing, so they overlap, mimicking a DJ mix.
