Even though Nas was smart, he quickly became used to and part of the gang lifestyle. He hated school and was made out to be a smart student since he was in the ghetto. A clever metaphor comparing himself to a seed that was planted in to this enviroment, like the common idiom — no one is born evil, it´s the enviroment that forms you.
