DOOM explains in XXL Magazine:

[This song was] a while ago, so I’m trying to remember what inspired it. It’s really just normally what I’d be talking about. I kinda do bragging rap. I do the kind of hip-hop where the MC is more pointing out things and accentuating certain things that have been forgotten at some stage. So I’m really just explaining hip-hop rules. Rules about rhyming. Typical shit that you would normally do or don’t do. That’s basically it. Hold on a second, I’m crossing the street right now.

The beat was later released in his Special Herbs beat tapes. The beat is titled “Saffron” and it is on Special Herbs Vol. 2

What is the meaning behind the cover art?
Genius Answer

MF DOOM is a rapper that is based off of Victor Von Doom/Dr. Doom from the Fantastic Four.

This cover art for Operation: Doomsday is sketched from one of the comic books. It has DOOM holding a microphone in a green hoodie, rather than the cape with a hood.

This album has had multiple cover arts:
- The 2011 remaster version features the arm of DOOM with three watches and a knife on a record. The time on the second watch may be a reference to the Bible verse John 3:17.
- The 2011 complete edition is a reworking of the original cover art, where the DOOM character is wearing the mask he is now known for (rather than the one he wore during the Operation: Doomsday era).
- The art for the “Silver Cover” version of the album features the supervillain’s mask on a silver print. This version can only be found on vinyl.
