Gambino’s subject matter frequently deals with topics that affect a significant portion of the black community (young, suburban, black youth) whose struggles and stories are often ignored or misunderstood in Hip-Hop on aggregate. They’re also tired of a lot of the same, tired, old tropes utilized in Hip-Hop and rap today as the full representation of their stories. As a result of this, Gambino takes it upon himself to voice the concerns and stories of them through his music, and thus give validity to these very real stories in the conversations of the Hip-Hop Community.
