Meaning

CG’s style is too “white” for some black people to call him black, but to white people, he’s just a black guy who falls into the “they all look the same” stereotype. The people saying these things are both ignorant regardless if they’re black or white.

What he’s comparing is actually the act itself of pigeonholing from the black side as being the same act typically coming from the white side — as in both are equivalently racist, however only one is connotated as such. Akin to subtle racism, you can’t really see it.

This also emphasizes how hard it was for Childish to fit in. Neither side of the train tracks accepted him.
