Gotta have land, gotta have acres
So I can sit back like Jack Nicholson
Watch niggas play the game like the Lakers
A pretty advanced simile/double entendre goin' on here:
-People are only focused on making money and having power, so no one takes the time to question or doubt their way of life. In the end, people who live in the struggle strive to get power and get out of there, leaving the people they struggled with to scrap for their own way out.
-Jack Nicholson gets courtside seats to Laker games every season. He obviously gets a kick out of watching basketball players (the “niggas” for the sake of the simile) — some of whom are actually from the struggle — play “the game” against each other. This feeling of superiority is exactly the type of feeling Nas is talking about.
