Tryna get away from the World stereotype
Barbed wire got a barricade on your destiny
He is trying to break away from the stereotype that all black men end up criminals or in jail but the truth is, when your parents are poor, there’s less possible ways for you to get out of the ghetto, making it seems like it’s your destiny.
This line isn’t entirely personal to Kendrick either. The world has this stereotype that it’s so hard to make something of yourself and that your dreams are too far away for an ‘Average Joe’.
The world stereotype forces you to be realistic and stops you achieving your full potential and essentially is putting a ‘barricade on your destiny’ preventing you on achieving what would have without the world’s stereotype.
