We'd troop down to Jew Town, talk a cat down on some gear
Jew Town (now defunct) refers to a specific area in Chicago located near the University of Illinois in Chicago where merchants sold low-priced apparel. The name originated as far back as the 1940’s because the merchants were orginally Jewish. However, they had mostly been replaced by merchants of other ethnicities by the time Common would have gone there in the late 1980s.
