from Azealia Banks – Liquorice Lyrics on Rap Genius

“Pin-up” refers to hanging calendars and magazine centerfold posters that were paintings, drawings, or photographs of women, and these works were hung up with a pin (i.e. pinned up, a “pin-up”) by men in shops, sleeping quarters, lockers, or wherever they spent their time. The women are supposedly the epitome of sexual/aesthetic desires and are thusly displayed in private, or a limited public arena, by the men to allay (or reinforce) their lust and desire for an “ideal” woman.
