Leave out the marketing, hold up on the business end
Focus on the genuine, and everything else, you can shed the skin
The main idea behind these lyrics is focus on what is inside. “Leave out the marketing” is saying to get rid of the lies and the false outside of an object or person, and look at “the business end,” or the real side. Thus the second line is an explanation of the first. He’s talking about monetary gains versus moral gains. Be genuine.
These are goals one might strive for in vippassana meditation. It’s all about being able to concentrate on what’s truly present (focus on the genuine) and not getting caught up in tricks your mind plays on you (everything else, you can shed the skin).
