The Weeknd’s message here highlights his increasingly jaded attitude towards the women in his life. The intro and outro is a message to his audience (and himself) to move on, without attachment to the significant people in life, namely his ex. He’s saying (and at the same time, trying to convince himself) stop thinking about these women, the lonely stars that could’ve been, because they end up leaving as quick as they cam for him. Evidently, we can also say from the intro and outro that before, The Weeknd used to lament the passing of these women from his life, but here we see his perception change, as he no longer wants to cry for these girls.
