Feelin' so distant from everyone I've known
Drake wrote this song after a fight with his family over the phone. Remember the line in “Successful”…
And 40 that was all before i showed up
And brought a thousand dollars worth of drinks
and got poured up
…he is describing what happened after the fight, when he brough several bottles of alcohol to 40’s house—almost in tears—then they sat down and wrote “The Calm”
This line describes how distant he feels from his family since he became so successful. Drake had Don Perignon (expensive champagne) after seeing the suffering his mother was going threw and together worrying about what they would do for money as degrassi had ended for a few years now and Drake was running out of money because he gave out free music. Once Drake got there and started drinking his uncle called him and drake said he was screaming threw the phone at his uncle on the other end who he loved with all his heart. It is said the argument was over money and his mom tried to run away from home earlier that day. Everyone is becoming less close to Drake as he gets more successful.
