A reference to Biggie’s song “My Downfall”, with the chorus:

This, in turn, sampled a Darryl Mac line from Run-D.M.C.’s Together Forever.

That first “pray” could also be “prey” as in to hunt or stalk something — this fits well with the next line when Jay-Z describes falling to the ground (being vulnerable to attack) but always rebounds
