When the U.S. invaded Iraq, it was supposedly to stop the war on terrorism. However, as more and more insiders began leaking information, it became apparent that it wasn’t quite the case

When we think of polish, we think of shoe polish, which is BLACK and OILY. Also, in ancient times, the area we call Iraq was once called Babylon. Put two and two together and one can surmise that Mos Def was saying that the public sentiment was pushed (using the Gladwell point in the previous line) by the government to want to invade Iraq in order to get the Babylon polish: i.e. oil

When you combine this with the following line, you find out that it wasn’t so much about OIL in so much as it was ALL ABOUT MONEY and how pervasive currency/money has become in the world today…
