And to my hero Heron, Gil Scott
from Robert Glasper (Ft. Bilal & Lupe Fiasco) – Always Shine Lyrics on Rap Genius
Meaning
Lupe’s idol and role model was the acclaimed “father of rap,” the legendary Gil Scott-Heron

Gil Scott-Heron passed away in the summer of 2011, only one year after conquering his drug addiction and experiencing a musical comeback with the release of his final album I’m New Here. As a memorial to the former’s impact, Lupe himself penned a tribute poem to Scott-Heron’s work, called “The Television Will Not Be Revolutionized”
