This line would later be proved true after the Taylor Swift incident, when everyone said Kanye’s career was over — this happened:
He’s also calling back to Last Call, when referring to the A&Rs (the “Artists and repertoire” division of a record label; responsible for scouting artists and overseeing artistic development). In “Last Call”, he mentions how the A&Rs messed up by overlooking and underestimating his talent (certainly as a rapper, if not necessarily as a producer).
