By virtue of the fact that he dropped out of high school at 17, Biggie was afraid that people would see him (falsely) as an unintelligent, teenage black thug, when in fact he was obviously gifted with poetry and language skills.
And although Biggie often does depict himself as a trigger-happy thug at many times, these lines demonstrate an incredible level of maturity—he is essentially accepting the many things that keep people from understanding his him and his genius, namely racism.
