Think about it, most of the army is Black and Latino
During the days of the Vietnam War (and further back), Blacks and Latinos couldn’t afford to get a further education. Therefore, they couldn’t afford to get a further education and couldn’t avoid being drafted into the war.
At the same time, middle classed white people (and, of course, those of a higher status) went to college and avoided the draft.
*Today, the highest percentage of any section of the army (US Army Reserve) of Blacks and Hispanics/Latinos combined is about 30%
