It's Spring and Hailie's outside swinging, I walk right up to Kim and kiss her
Tell her I miss her
Again almost as metaphorical as the previous line:
“It’s Spring..” spring is always referred to as a fresh start. Eminem is known for being meticulous about word placement.
Notice how the swing appears in every verse, but each time the scenario portrays increasing serenity:
- In the first verse, Eminem doesn’t even have time for it.
- In the second verse, he’s pushing Hailie on it but she’s expressing her unhappiness about Em’s absence in her life.
- In this final verse, the swing is the final painting of a happy family.
These changes through the song show Eminem gradually tearing away from the stage life and being there for his family instead.
