To creep through the back door, the typical black boy in the good old U-S-A
Black folk in America have always had to sneak or force their way into opportunity. The front door’s never open so we’ve got to sneak in through a window, or in this case, the back door.
It’s also a statement on how society views an average black kid — a thief. It’s supposed to be a fucked up statement.
This can also reference the previous line, saying that he used to sneak out of his house unbeknownst to his mother.
Also a reference to the Jim Crow Era practice of making African Americans pick up/eat their food in the back rather than with the normal customer.
