As we discover more we learn more about our world. Before we thought the earth was flat and if you went to far you’d fall off. People who thought the earth to be round were ridiculed. Now we know the earth is round. People would rather stick to what they know and be wrong than to go against the grain to discover the truth. If the shape change again everybody woulda start laugh. To avoid ridicule, people today are opting not to step outside of the box to learn more about the world in fear of being laughed at.

This ridicule is alluded to in the next line about everybody…laughing at the ones who knew the shape.
