Black diamonds, apartheid
Apartheid, (the Dutch word for separation,) was a system of segregation and discrimination used against Africans in South Africa. 2 Chainz is describing his black diamonds like he did on the G.O.O.D. Music collaborative track “Mercy”.
However, for this line to make sense, it would have to refer to the fact that black middle class people in South Africa are called “black diamonds.” Originally it was a positive term for progression of blacks amidst Apartheid, and the subsequent issues which remain, but is now mainly used in a derogatory manner. The question here is whether or not 2 Chainz was actually making that connection..
