Pink slip on my door, cause I can't afford to stay
My fifteen seconds up, but I got more to say
That's enough Mr. West, please no more today
Pink slips usually refer to a notice of termination from employment, or in this case, eviction from a home. Kanye is being evicted because he can’t afford to pay rent.
Kanye is also referring to his “15 seconds of fame”, a term coined by Andy Warhol (actually 15 minutes) referring to the small window of opportunity everyone receives in life to speak their mind and be the center. Of course, Kanye comes back after.
And now the priest has had enough of Kanye’s numerous problems he’ll have to save them for another day. What he means even more figuratively is the music industry and about people’s reactions to him. He feels like people don’t want to listen to him, like they don’t care enough about what he has to say. He has more to say, but nobody wants to listen. Maybe he’s even saying that perhaps he had a chance, there was a time when people wanted to hear him, but it’s gone now. This verse almost reflects Jay Z’s hit song “99 Problems…”
