I kill the block, I murder the avenues
Continues from the previous line: the cars Jay drives are so expensive no one can compete, figuratively killing any competition to his swag on a whole street.
Muhammad Ali’s speech before his fight with George Foreman, the “Rumble in the Jungle,” he said that he’s going to “[beat] the big bad monster, who knocks out everybody, and no one can whoop him.” Later he goes on to say, “I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalized a brick; I’m so mean, I make medicine sick.” The syntax of “I kill the block, I murder the avenues,” seems to suggest Jay-Z may be referencing Ali’s legendary pre-match speech.
Kanye previously compared himself to Ali in “Gorgeous”
