Whipping through the city in a Phantom of the opera
Whipping is slang for driving a car; the “Phantom” in question being the famous Rolls-Royce car and not the famous media property.
The Phantom of the Opera is a 1920 novel written by Gaston Leroux that in 1986 was turned into a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Said musical became a worldwide and cultural phenomenon; it’s still running on Broadway after 25 years and is both the highest grossing Broadway show and entertainment property of all-time with global receipts of over $5.1 billion.
