At least homeless I knew that I was safe for real
Mothafuckas wanna water me down
Put my fire out knowing that I ought to be crowned
As the greatest, ever. I'll slaughter these clowns
Old ass A&R's wanna part of me now
Charles was once homeless and says that he would be better off there because he would be safer. But he is not talking about the fact that he now has money but instead is referring to his artistic integrity as he explains with the later bars. His A&R is now trying to get him to change his music to express something he is not to get him to be radio friendly. Or “Water me down”.
