My TV ain't HD, that's too real
Frank wants to choose ignorance over enlightenment.
On the one hand, someone watching something real on an HDTV would see it much more clearly (makeup sales for people like news anchors shot up after HDTV’s became popular, hence too real).
On the other hand, people in the clouded sweet life (who can afford an HDTV) are too rich to be able to relate to anything real anymore. The very object that allows someone to see more clearly in a literal sense is a representation of their fake materialistic altered view of life.
