Man I hate rap, but if the shoe fits, wear it
Hopsin hates being in the rap game, because it is all about sex and drugs. But he’s good at rapping real talk, so he sticks to it even though it’s something he doesnt approve of
To quote Juelz Santana:
Another meaning could be that Hopsin doesn’t, in fact hate rap, he hates the direction rap is going. He doesn’t believe in the degrading lyrics that rappers put in their songs about sex, drugs, money, and crimes. He also believes that a rappers skill shouldn’t come from the beat or track he is laying on, but the lyricism and meaning behind every word.
In a song “Renegade” By Eminem and Jay-z, Eminem says “Cause, see, they call me a menace and if the shoe fits I’ll wear it”. He might be calling homage to him, especially because Hop calls himself a “freak of nature” in the next line which may be somewhat synonymous to “menace.”
