Since 1970, Atlanta has been a majority black metropolis. It is, as Parliament called DC in the 70s, a “chocolate city.” Thus, African Americans in Atlanta have found much political, social, and economic success.
In some ways, then it is an African American “heaven.” Mike, though, recognizes the suffering that still exists underneath this facade of achievement.
