While I'm jelly beans descending
Into the palm of a child, looks up at mama and smile
With such a devilish grin, like "where the hell have you been"
from Rick Ross (Ft. Andre 3000) – Sixteen Lyrics on Rap Genius
The legendary triple entendre:
The mother looks in the kids hand and sees crack cocaine and tells the kid where the hell have you been…connecting to the next line that says “selling is a sin” meaning kids aren’t suppose to be hustling at that young of an age.
Andre’s message goes through his music and into the ears of a child as easily as jellybeans into their palm. Hearing his message is much better for your health than a sugar filled treat though.
He is drawing comparisons to his current career which constitutes very few features and appearances and a child receiving jellybeans as a treat. As Hip Hop fans, we are only being allowed small sweet portions of what 3 Stacks has to offer. When he does eventually surface the questions is always “where they hell have you been”. & their sweet taste always leaves us wanting more.
