Just the good of you may enter by the mercy of the lord
Only the so called “righteous” will be allowed into Heaven by the mercy of God. But what if some of these righteous people like Priest are actually molesting children while preaching the opposite. Will they still be allowed to enter heaven?
Lu is juxtaposing mercy with “righteousness” and questioning whether God will be merciful enough to let the Priests and “righteous” into Heaven.
This also serves as a continuation of the previous line, since the reason why Martin Luther nailed his theses to the door was because they were giving out indulgences in return for money. This line basically reiterates what Martin Luther was saying. God chooses who goes to heaven, not the amount of money you have.
Lupe could still be going on the Protestant Reformation line that preceded by referencing the idea that found itself prominent of Calvinism of predetermination. This is the belief that god chooses who goes to heaven even before they are born and there is nothing anyone can do to change the decision. Hence, only the good enter through the mercy of the lord.
