There is an old adage in the rap game (and life) about how once a person comes into power & fame, and begins to get money, hate is surely to follow.

Now that Gunplay is starting to climb to the pinnacle of rap, he understands this old proverb, as he has begun to feel the wrath of MMG haters.

A reference to the Bible verse Matthew 20:37:

If you love your father or mother
More than you love me,
you are not worthy of being mine;
or if you love your
son or daughter more than me,
you are not worthy of being mine.

The verse states that to be worthy of God, you’ve got to love Him more than you love your family. Ace follows this code by stating God is his #1 priority, followed by his family.

Frenchie had assumed that once he became a big time rapper, it would mean love from all. However, he received plenty of hate as well (he was named one of the most hated rappers at the end of 2012), which lead to his realization that the rap game is a dirty business. However, French has no worries.

This intro was not included in the original version of the song, but was apart of the remastered update which was released on May 12, 2013 — the same day the video was released.

DJ Khaled and Rick Ross are like brothers. Khaled was an instrumental part of Ross' initial success in Miami, which led to his major record label deal with Def Jam. At least a quarter of the songs on every Khaled album has a Ross feature on it, including most of the singles such as We Taking Over, I’m So Hood, Out Here Gridin', Fed Up, All I Do Is Win, I’m On One, Take It To The Head, etc.

Could also be a reference to the 1985 movie, Flesh and Blood, as Ross had mentioned blood in the previous line.

Rozay establishes himself as a Boss by placing himself in the same company as high-profile billionaire owners, Gavin Maloof and Micky Arison — the owners of his two favorite basketball teams.

Gavin Maloof is apart of the Maloof Family, the owners of the Sacramento Kings. Mickey Arison is the CEO of Carnival Corporation, and the owner of the defending NBA champion Miami Heat.

By placing himself in their company, Ross seems to insinuate he will one day join them as a billionaire himself.

This is Ross' way of saying “We doing big thangs!

DeMarcus Cousins is the starting center for the Sacramento Kings, and standing at 6 ft 11 inches and 270 lbs, he is quite a big man, much like Ross.

Ross has stated that the Sacremento Kings are his second favorite team, and Ross and Cousins are known fans of each other. In fact, Ross was seen reppin' Cousins' jersey in the video for his song Ashamed.

Charlie Ward was a standout college football & basketball player for the Florida State Seminoles. He was a Heisman Trophy winner and apart of the FSU college basketball teams that advanced to the Sweet 16. He would go on to play professional basketball for the New York Knicks.

The two teams that Ross is referring to is probably referring to is his record labels — Ross is signed to Def Jam as a solo artist, but is also the founding member of his own record label Maybach Music Group, which is distributed under Atlantic Records.

Rozay describes the concept of the song — 16 bars is not enough to express himself.

In an interview, Ross expanded:

Basically it was just when you get some music that you really love or a track that you really love, sometimes sixteen bars is not enough to really express yourself. We just went to that next level. I think for people to hear Andre do what he did; I'ma let y'all count how many bars he did as well as of course what I did, man. He pulled out the guitar and banjo on this one and he sang a little bit on the end of it. It just broke all the rules of making a standard record.

"Mink coats make your woman wanna fornicate" (Drake – Lord Knows) | accepted

"I'm addicted, canary yellow diamonds" (Rick Ross – Audio Meth) | accepted

So addicted to yellow diamonds, he made a song about it.

"When he ran his mouth, me I'd rather smoke" (Rick Ross – Ashamed) | accepted

"Fuck your insinuation," (Rick Ross – 911) | accepted

I think this line refers to the fact that most Ross haters insinuate that he’s a fraud because of his CO past, so Ross is saying “fuck your insinuations of me being fake”

"And my chain it may slow me down" (A$AP Rocky – Ghetto Symphony) | accepted

^ exactly, cuz he’d probably have to do illegal things to get his chain back, which would get him even more trouble than he already is

"12 gauge, shotgun, chest full of carbon (boom-boom)" (Rick Ross – 100 Black Coffins) | accepted

what the hell does the rapper 12 gauge have anything to do with this?

Teamwork make the dreamwork are wise words, also one of Rick Ross' slogan back in 2006 who is a close personal friend of Pusha T. Ross is a confirmed guest on Pusha’s upcoming debut. http://instagram.com/p/OkbspKBvD5/

"Fuck your investigation, study my elevation" (Rick Ross – 911) | accepted

Also, “study my elevation” refers to his elevation to the top of the rap game. Ross started out as a highly-sought free agent after his hit single “Hustlin”, and has now become one of the biggest names in hip-hop. Like Ross wrote in the liner notes of the GFID booklet:

"Nigga I be goin H.A.M. till the pig gone" (Meek Mill – Repo) | accepted

Yeah….Jay & Ye didn’t create the term “Ham”, they popularized it. Pill had a song “Trap Going Ham” back in 09. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z42Wxd-_drg

"Boom boom boom boom!" (Rick Ross – 911) | accepted
