“Every Little Step” is Bobby Brown’s 1989 single from his album Don’t Be Cruel; it was released under the MCA Records label.

Part of the song features un-credited vocals from Brown’s (at the time) former New Edition mate Ralph Tresvant. Brown, who was actively abusing drugs at the time went M.I.A. as he was often known to do, and was unable to finish his vocals on the day it was scheduled to be finished. Tresvant who happened to be there decided to help his friend, and secretly lent some ghost vocals.

The hit reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, #1 on the Hot Black Singles chart, and #6 on the UK Singles Chart. The song also appears on Brown’s album of remixes, Dance!…Ya Know It!

Bobby Brown has also named his autobiography after the song.
