Intro Lyrics

[Part 1]

[Produced by Busta Rhymes]

[Spoken Interlude: Lord Have Mercy]
As we approach the current time frame of 1997
With approximately two and a half years before the year 2000
Repeatedly it has been reported that there will be a time soon approaching
That a major disaster will be striking all levels of existence!
It has also been reported that this disastrous thing will be approaching
In the form of many!
Many as in squad, squad as in Flipmode Squad!
It has also been reported that everyone out of the many will strike
But this particular motherfucker will strike with an unmeasurable blast!
And will fuck up everything within its 360 degree radius
Warning, prepare yourselves, store your food, stack your paper
Because when this motherfucker gets here, it's about to get real fucked up for everyone and everything
Everywhere!

[Part 2]

[Produced by Omar Glover]

[Spoken Interlude: Rudy Ray Moore aka Dolomite]
Well, Busta Rhymes!
Come on over here and let me talk to you, son
See now, Dolomite just got back from some shit that you 'bout to be in
Well, are you prepared? I hope you are prepared, nigga
'Cause you know this is album number two, yes, more bitches than before
There'll be more bitches, more and more and more!
More thirsty niggas tryin' to get inside yo' shit!
Tryin' to throw your whole chemistry off, oh, yes!
There's gonna be a lot more money
Yes! A lot more money than before
Though, son, don't you worry about none of that shit
All you gotta do is just slap your dick in the mouth of these bitches
That don't wanna act right!
And put a hot one in any motherfucker that wants to get in the way of this power move shit right here!
Okay, son, all right, Busta! Enough of this shit talkin'!
Let's be on our way, 'cause when dis-aster strikes
There's gonna be a whole lot of motherfuckers pourin' in
Alright, baby, let's go!
[Part 3]

[Produced by DJ Scratch]

[Spoken Interlude: Spliff Star & Busta Rhymes]
Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo (Hah!)
Ladies and gentlemen
Straight from the motherfucking street corner
Goin' out to all you motherfuckers across the globe
On the return trip
It be them niggas, them niggas that live by the code of blood honor (Hoo)
My Flipmode niggas! (Hah!) Uh
Straight bringin' you that shit, to another extreme (Ohh-aah!)
Here to hit you motherfuckers with a strike of disaster!
I bring on to you, once again
The eighth wonder of the world, my nigga, (Ah!) Busta, Rhymes! (Yeah)
And I be, that nigga (Ah!), that live nigga Spliff-a-Spliff! (Ah!)
Comin' through right at you wherever the fuck you at!
Flipmode is the squad (Ahh!) comin' through right at you wherever the fuck you at!
Oh! (Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!)
Ayo, cut my shit off (Cut my shit off), cut it off

[Outro: Busta Rhymes]
Eheheh-eheheheheheheheh
Here we go again, motherfuckers
Eh-heh, let's start this shit

Genius Annotation

The intro to Busta Rhymes‘ second studio album When Disaster Strikes… is construced in three parts. It draws numerous similarites to the intro of Busta’s debut studio album The Coming.

The first part of the intro features atmospheric production by Busta himself and, simillarly to the intro of The Coming, begins with the commanding voice of fellow Flipmode Squad member Lord Have Mercy, who prophetically warns of an impending disaster that will strike “all levels of existence,” alluding to the theme of an apocalypse as a result of Y2K, a thematic extensively present on The Coming and now When Disaster Strikes. Lord also hints at the arrival of the Flipmode Squad and foreshadows the destructive power they possess.

The introduction by Lord is followed by a skit from actor Rudy Ray Moore as his legendary character Dolomite over a gritty beat by Omar “Amarreto” Glover, on which he discusses the challenges and temptations that come with success in the music industry, and imparts his street wisdom to Busta in a humorous way. He would later appear again on the intro to Busta’s fifth studio album Genesis.

The last part of the intro features Flipmode member and hype man Spliff Star, who, in a similar way to Rampage on The Coming, contributes spoken lines about the impact of Busta and the squad over a DJ Scratch beat. Also similarly to The Coming, Busta reuses the beat on the outro of the album. The intro ends with him snatching the mic and declaring that he’s about to “start this shit.”
