Hard Headed Woman Lyrics

I'm looking for a hard headed woman
One who'll take me for myself
And if I find my hard headed woman
I won't need nobody else, no no no!

I'm looking for a hard headed woman (headed woman)
One who'll make me do my best
And if I find my hard headed woman
I know the rest of my life will be blessed yes (yes) yes yes

I know a lot of fancy dancers
Yes, people who can glide you on a floor
They move so smooth but have no answers
(Woah oh ho, woah ouh oh-oh-oh-oh)
When you ask them "What d'you come here for?"
"I don't know."
"Why?"

I know many fine feathered friends
But their friendliness depends on how you do
They know many sure fired ways
To find out the one who pays

And how you do

I'm looking for a hard-headed woman (headed woman)
One who will make me feel so good
And if I find my hard-headed woman
I know my life will be as it should - yes, yes, yes
I'm looking for a hard-headed woman (headed woman)
One who will make me do my best
And if I find my hard headed woman...

About

Genius Annotation

Though never released as a single and not a hit, “Hard Headed Woman” was included on Steven’s 1975 Greatest Hits album and is one of his most well-known songs.

In it, he yearns for a practical and uncompromising woman, not a lady who appears to make all of the right moves but actually has no real direction or motivation in life while leaching off of another. However, he expressed in 1971 that he didn’t ‘really know who a hard headed woman really is’. Perhaps he was subconsciously influenced by the 1958 chart-topping Elvis song of the same name?

What did Cat Stevens say about "Hard Headed Woman"?
Genius Answer

Stevens told Creem in 1971:

‘Hard headed Woman’ is a strange one. I don’t really know who a hard headed woman really is. I’ll find out one day. It’s weird. I mean, most of my songs I just let them come and figure them out later.
