(Intro) In the Hearts Tonight Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Shadow of an army
They never saw us in their path
Too busy eyes in the clouds
Never give a thought about you
I know how you can hang your head so low
When the lies are weighing you down
What are you fighting for
I need you to come out of the dark

[Verse 2]
I really wanna break you out
Don't you know that you're so invincible
Don't you know you can be incredible
No way I'm gonna let you loose uh
Cause this is our moment no-o-ow
Between this head and hands a heart to fight
Walks into the flames and dark tonight
Yea ahh

[Chorus]
So get ready for war
Yea get ready for war
Put your battle suit on
Yous a champion
We can never be touched
Ain't no stoppin us
Destiny written
And the stars look uh
I can feel it in the air in the hearts tonight
Hearts tonight yeah
We been waiting for this chance
And now it's ours tonight
Ours tonight
Yeah

[Chorus]
So get ready for war
Yea get ready for war
Put your battle suit on
Yous a champion
We can never be touched
Ain't no stoppin us
Destiny written
And the stars look uh

I can feel it in the air in the hearts tonight
Hearts tonight
We been waiting for this chance
And now it's ours tonight
Ours tonight
Yeah

[Outro]
So get ready for war
We gotta fight for our right
So get ready for war
We gotta fight for our love
So get ready for war
We gotta fight for our prides
So get ready for war
We gotta fight so our hearts are one
So get ready for war
So get
So get ready for war
So get ready for war
So get ready for war
Get ready for war uh huh uh

About

Genius Annotation

”In the Hearts Tonight” serves as the intro to the album Goldenheart, the first act of the Heart Trilogy. In the song, Dawn opens the curtains and sets the tone for the album by painting a sonic picture of soldiers emerging from the shadows and darkness as she calls them to arms in order to fight a great battle. Dawn has stated that the Heart trilogy captures her story in music (independent as well as mainstream). As such, this song can be loosely seen as a metaphor for one breaking out on their own as they are brought out or pushed out of their comfort zone, or rather they choose to step out on their own. The song interpolates “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins and is a mid-tempo track with a cinematic sound.
