Double Entendre:

1.) He is “ahead” of his time.

2.) A reference back back to line one where he said “done hit a nigga in the head with this one”. It would be best to read that explanation before continuing on with this one.
If you read ahead as two seperate words (a head) then it will read as Wayne calling himself a head. Which in itself has many different interpretations:
1. A knowledgable hip hop fan is called a hip hop ‘head’.
2. A ‘head’ in rap can refer to a major MC with widespread aclaim and popularity within Hip Hop circles (Jay Z, Eminem, Raekwon etc.)
3. A ‘head’ is also a slang term for genius.
But another intepretation is most prevelent and ties in with the song better. This being that Wayne is refering back to line one and saying that he is the head he said he (and T Mix) shot. Saying that the personal aspect of this song is painful for him to express. Since this is in the beginning of the song, we can assume he’s telling us before hand that this song is going to be very self-revealing and that it’s difficult for him to say some of the things he’s going to say.

To “paint the city red” means:

1.) To go on a riotous spree — like that of Marquis of Waterford in 1830 – which is where the phrase originates from. Usually involving parties and drugs taken in binge doses. Similar to Mardi Gras in New Orleans — which is where Lil Wayne is from.
2.) To go on a riotous spree of violence — similar to the first meaning in that it usually involves drugs but instead of partying it refers to violence and murder. Basically roaming through the night in a drunken haze — with a nine or a switchblade — starting shit. This is the most common use of the word today.
3..) Lil Wayne is a blood — so this phrase takes another meaning for him. Saying that with this song he is going to speak on his city (New Orleans) and be more personal about it than people usually would — probably because he so inspired by the beat he complimented in the last line. Personal to the point that he “becomes” the city — painting it the color of his soul — which is red because of him being a blood.

The last meaning is the most prominent — but all three meaning are seen as the song continues — making this line very important to the layout of the song.

Continuing the record metaphor — Old School DJ’s used to use records to make the y-y-yeah chicka-chicka effects by “scratching” the vinyl back and forth on a turntable. When this is done over and over — the record will erode and crack from over use.
He likens the girl to the DJ — himself to the Record — and the relationship to the turntables. So she is scratching him up — damaging him emotionally. It also suggest that she is manipulative of the relationship and Travie is the one being manipulated. Like a puppeteer to a puppet.

Continuing the boxing metaphor.

Bare knuckle boxing is not much more than brawling in the streets — Canibus' rhymes are raw, unbrandished, and fully passionate — unlike most professional boxing, or mainstream rap.

Double Entendre:

(Buck)wild = crazy
(Buck) = a large male deer

Your (Ass) = You’re being
(Ass) = a donkey

He is saying that if he goes crazy lyrical you don’t stand a chance and you will be obliterated.

He is also saying that he is this –

You are this –

Awesome metaphore!

Rook = the chess piece resembling a tower (image below) and can move up, down, left, and right.
Square = The chess board — The specific spot on which the rook stand — or the city square found in urban areas. Usually referred as ‘blocks’ but in areas known for their squares the squares are usually used as reference.

So Sean can be saying:
1. He controls the entire game (Rap).
2. He controls the next move.
3. He controls the ghetto where he lives.

Leads into the next line — he is saying that the sole goal in rapping is to take over.
Like saying “I AM Music” or “My Job IS Saving Lives” Sean puts emphasis on “’s” (is) through his wording in order to say his “Occupation IS, Operation, Lockdown”.

He plans to “Lockdown” the radio — he’s not gonna go bubble gum rap though. He’s only gonna lock down the radio stations that play real Hip Hop.
