Dre Murray tells the mindset of one who is consumed with the “American Dream.” He exposes the lies and consequences of what chasing this dream can do to a person and their soul. So many people are willing to give everything and do anything, even if it is evil, to gain something that is unattainable and ultimately does not satisfy and leaves you wanting more.
In verse 2, the person in this story realizes the emptiness of the pursuit but is so consumed he even puts the ultimate treasure, Jesus, who gave his life for him, on the shelf.
This track is a raw look into the evil and deception found in the lies of chasing the “American Dream” instead pursuing our true purpose which is to embrace and be embraced by the God that can save our souls and give us the Life that all human beings are searching for.
