Since I Don’t Have You Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I don't have plans and schemes
And I don't have hopes and dreams
I, I, I don't have anything
Since I don't have you

[Verse 2]
And I don't have fond desires
And I don't have happy hours
I, I, I don't have anything
Since I don't have you (I don't have)

[Bridge]
Happiness and I guess
I never will again
When you walked out on me
In walked old misery
And he's been here since then

[Interlude]
Yep, we're fucked!

[Verse 3]
I don't have love to share
And I don't have one who cares
I, I, I don't have anything
Since I don't have you
[Outro]
Oh
You, you, you, oh, oh
You, you, you, oh, oh
You, you, you, oh, oh
You, you, you, oh, oh
You, you, oh yeah

[Instrumental Outro]

Genius Annotation

Originally a 1958 doo-wop single by The Skyliners, “Since I Don’t Have You” is considered to be among some of the best heartbreak ballads ever recorded.

Guns N’ Roses later covered the song on The Spaghetti Incident?, from which it was taken as the album’s third single in 1994. Maintaining the original version’s slow, yearning tempo and clean-cut piano melody, the lyrics reflect on the termination of a relationship. Devastated by the loss of a great love, the narrator feels incomplete and lifeless. In this moment, they are eclipsed by emotion and have no plans or hope for the long-term.

The song became a top 10 hit in the UK, and remains the last music video officially released by the band to this date. The video is notable for featuring actor Gary Oldman as a demon taunting singer Axl Rose.
