About
In the concept of the Dark Carnival, both brothers juggle pulsating blood covered balls, each one representing the mortal lives of the souls witnessing. For every sin committed, another ball gets added. If a soul witnesses Jake drop a ball, he will be damned to Hell forever. If Jake succeeds the act, however, the souls will be led to Shangri-La, and thus, eternal peace.
9 tracks after the first Jeckel-related track, we meet “The Sinister Brother,” Jack Jeckel. Much like Jake, that moniker isn’t just for show; Jack represents the bad of one’s soul. Shaggy 2 Dope describes Jack as “Your keeper of wickedry,” being “of your negativity, of your hate”, and stating “The path to Shangri-La is misled by he.” Jack is constantly tossing curve balls in order to throw Jake off, and as described earlier, if Jake messes up and drops even one ball, it’s down to the fiery pits for you!
