About

Genius Annotation

The main premise of the song Dear Lord is that Wayne is praying to God for redemption over his past sins because he sees himself as of lately as a sinner that glorifies violence and has not been able to leave the streets behind him to a higher cause.

The song also goes deeper into Wayne’s thought of becoming a rap legend, where his passion and soul is. He is trying to contemplate the glory of living the street life, but being killed for it and not being able to see his legacy become true. He sees death around the corner, but cannot leave that life alone without help from God.

He also touches on class warfare in America and the struggle that the people of New Orleans went through after Katrina.
