Fallen Angel Lyrics

      [Intro]
I'm right here, never left you
Right here, never left you
Right here
Never left you
Fallen angel
Always here to protect you

[Hook]
It's not enough to love the music
Few of us survive the pain
I've cried
The names of fallen angels
Just to hear you speak again

[Verse]
I've been living in that grave
Lately I'm only half the man

The other half I keep with you, sleep with you
So when the sun comes peeking
Through
I'm there to catch you when you land
If the impact kills us
Both
At least we had a second chance

The promise that I spoke
Beats through the pulse in your hands

Wish we drove away together
But here I am

And I'm talking to myself
Inside the music once again

Playing hide and seek with you
It's been a long count to ten
See you
Hiding in them trees
Peek-a-boo, here I am

Why'd it have to come to this
You'd said you'd come to me for help

So now I speak to you through music
Cause my heart's already broke

And when I see your face
Part of me wants to punch you in the throat
Take that IV out your arm
Feed you food, so you choke
Write a letter to your parents
Take away their burden of hope
But I'll just stay here
Crying like a baby in a ball
And listen to your words
Making sounds, out of vowels, out of ____
Out of nothing at all, and just smile
And you would say I'm acting crazy
We'd fall to the ground
Laughing harder then we've laughed in a while
You used to be so talkative
I couldn't quiet you down
It's an insane world we live in
Nobody's given the time
To right wrongs or write songs
For the girls we're given
It's just a matter of time
Before the world quit spinning
And I'd have twice the peace of mind
If I had some sign you were in it
But I'll keep moving I'll keep doing my thing
I'll be good, Keep your life outta harm
Let's get one thing understood
I know it may not have been perfect
But every second by your side it's been worth it
[Hook]
It's not enough to love the music
Few of us survive the pain
I've cried the names of fallen angels
Just to hear you speak again
The names of fallen angels
Just to hear you speak again
I've cried the names of fallen angels

[Outtro]
I'm right here, never left you
Right here, never left you
Right here, never left you
Fallen angel always here to protect you

Loveraps is about moving from fear and anger to love and acceptance, over the course of a man’s life. Fallen Angel is the first track of the album, where I’m filled with anger and not able to accept myself or my situation. My soul/god/goddess is speaking to me to rise above such identification with my ego and be a real man. I’m the fallen angel, and my spirit has never left me, and will keep encouraging me. At the end of the song, the small personal growth is my realization that every action in this life is perfect and I don’t have to be so angry about it.

The words of the story were designed to have 3 depths. The core of the story is my anger, making me a disabled man, and my spirit helping me back up. The words are also crafted to reflect an alternate take on anger, not at my own disability, but even as being the caretaker for my wife after a car accident leaves her with permanent debilitating brain damage (instead of leaving myself disabled). I want the story to be viewed from both lenses for full impact.

I wrote the narrative within the caretaker perspective about my wife in order to keep the story emotionally resonant. But the true story is that we’re all fallen angels and our soul is crying out to us to come home and be whole and we fight with it. This is happening every present moment and is far more an epic story, that we can be our true self and speak again in a way that is deeply healing to ourselves those around us.
