Mr. Officer Lyrics

[Michel'le]
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
Why do you wanna see me in a coffin, sir?
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I don't wanna be layin a coffin, sir

Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
Why do you wanna see me in a coffin, sir?
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I don't wanna be layin a coffin, sir
No, no, no

[El Dorado]
It's the police, comin straight from the underground
A young brotha got it bad cuz I'm brown
You wonder why I can't get no peace, asleep
I'm makin more than the chief of police
I creep, on the plan, 20 inch rims
You gon' always have haters when you're havin divadins
Here come the po-po, still roll slow mo'
About to blow some hydro inside a optimo
The president choke and smoke on the sticky
I told this fool I'm rappin, why he pattin on my Dickies?
Next'll be me, cuz I'm a teenager
With a little bit of platinum and a pager
Tappin my phone, lookin for the product
Thinkin every balla is servin narcotics
You rather G, me in a ?
Than me rollin in a 300 and 300 Benz
She never knew what hit her
Beans pulled the trigger
I lost another nigga
Pour out a little liquor
[Chorus: Michel'le]
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I don't wanna be layin a coffin, sir
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I don't wanna be layin a coffin, sir

Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
Why did you wanna see me in a coffin, sir?
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I don't wanna be layin a coffin, sir
No, no oh

[Captain Save M']
You know I heard some disturbing news, a situation
Heard about them panelopie po-po's actin bad across the nation
There's a particular situation that got me feelin sad
It had the whole family askin God, why did it happen?
Young and innocent, it gets so tense, is what I mention
Never had the chance to live out a lifelong dream before it ended
They say we should obey the white man's laws, at all times
Whatever dude, the po-po's always have somethin' else in mind
I was ridin' in a Caddy 500, bumpin Will Smith, gettin' jiggy
When I looked up in the rearview and spotted - Damn, Mr. Piggy
License suspended, warrant checks, verbal altercation
Officer Dolittle, ????????
Zoo Zoos and Wham Whams is all we had to work with, chancin & hollerin
Wish I had the chance to screw the marbles and hire Johnny Cochran
I'm just a black man in this white man's world, like 'Pac say
Wassup y'all, shouldn't play, cuz we can't save 'em from the yay
[Chorus]
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
Why do you wanna see me in a coffin, sir?
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I don't wanna be layin a coffin, sir (save me)

Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
Why do you wanna see me in a coffin, sir?
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I don't wanna be layin a coffin, sir (why do you wanna see me)
Oh no, no

We ain't sayin that all cops are bad
I think the good cops hate the bad cops sometimes
But you know this has to stop
You feel me?

[El Dorado]
Ebony, heavenly, sent from up above
Blessed me with my flesh, that's respect with love
Hey ballas, this brotha spiked the set-backs
They only around to get you down, so don't sweat that
Let that, a change gon' come
Reminiscin the days of old when all the negros sunk
It don't matter where you're from
They still do what's bad
Walkin with a stack, got 'em lookin for my rag
I dash from the police, arrest resisted
Apprehend my skin, to the pen is the mission
You wonder why I'm trippin (don't trip, stay cool)
They made me wanna act a fool, they way they shot up Boo
When too young, reduce a life to a gun
A flat tire cost you when you're livin in the slum
Make me wanna holla, the way they do my life
And it really ain't right
[Chorus]
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I didn't wanna be layin a coffin, sir
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I don't wanna be layin a coffin, sir

Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
Why did you wanna see me in a coffin, sir?
Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer
I don't wanna be layin a coffin, sir

So why do you do what you do? (why)
As we make the world go 'round (we make the world go 'round)
So why do you do what you do?
Because you know...
We make the world go 'round

So Mr. Officer (Mr. Officer)
Please Mr. Officer (oh please Mr. Officer)
Mr. Officer (please Mr. Officer)
Don't take my life, no no

Genius Annotation

Mr. Officer was the original name/track off Death Row Records' initial album release “The Chronic.” “The Day the N****z Took Over” ft. Daz, Snoop Dogg & RBX was the final version of the track used for “The Chronic.” Per Wikipedia “"Mr. Officer” (featuring RBX and Prince Ital Joe), the original version of “The Day the Niggaz Took Over”. A song named “Mr. Officer” by Michel'le was included in Suge Knight Represents: Chronic 2000. In 2016, the original song was leaked.“ Listening to the chorus on the original version you quickly realize why the song was changed back in nine-deuce aka ‘92. "Mr. Officer, Mr. Officer I wanna see layin’ in a coffin sir.” Due to public sentiment surrounding such releases as Ice-T’s “Cop Killer,” record companies were under heavy scrutiny. This “left over” early Death Row track finally found a spot in a revised version here when “Chronic 2000” dropped ahead of Dr. Dre’s release back in 1999. This of course caused Dr. Dre to change the title of his album to “2001.” Suge Knight was trolling before it was ever a thing!
