The Plague Lyrics

[Produced By Cayea]

[Verse 1]
I used to wake up, bake up, cook bacon and eggs up
Mind up in the sky my third eye thought it had a leg up
Drunken stumble over broken bodies in a tenement
A layer of human sediment composed of degenerates
Someone’s mom would mumble in a disapproving rhetoric
Then go to work, as zombies rise up from the dirt
The sun would rise our eyes would hurt, "Close the blinds
Bump the vibes" as our tribe contrived a mind altering
High to pass the time, ritualistic crime in the pupil's of the law
But as pupils of ourselves we viewed that ruling as a flaw
"F the L, a double yah (yah)" Preacher to my people
The house is my steeple the politicians are my evil
Feeble bodied women, hefty men, we are but equal
Knights on a carpeted pew, habitual acid may spew
But if you wash it down that royal crown is there to meet you
Where kings use their nose to enhance the world we know
Jazzy loops evoke spontaneous hymnals of my soul
The angels lay low, providing themselves with smokey halos
The same ones that brothers kill each other in as the day goes
Feudal economics, making triple digit payrolls

[Hook]
Man I don’t wanna live my life like this
Man I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna live my life like this
Man I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna live my life like this, no!
But now I’m caught up in a life like this
But now I’m caught up, now I’m caught up in a life like this
But now I’m caught up, now I’m caught up in a life like this, oh!
[Verse 2]
Bio. majors concentrated on the birds and the bees
But arson forestry, cause we blazing trees
Keeping lies stashed underneath our sleeves
And our jeans, caught up with the serfs and the thieves who
Collect interest for their power over peasants with prestige
A system built on loyal needy fiends
"Hail the Queen," a substance religion held supreme
The monotheistic view that we believe
But stops us from having dreams
Get blacked out, recoup though
Then re-sin with resin that resembles buboes
Ideas of utopia is the true hope
One day we will escape the system like Pluto
But our education stops at the metric system
And lost memories of executing long division
Reduced to the quarters we are given, we live in
The broken manor that reflects our current mannerisms
Just another day into another night
We got the plague, but we are still alive
Harvest time, gripping grain as they work the 9 to 5
I just hope that we can make it out ali-, make it out alive

About

Genius Annotation

The Plague tells the story of a group of troubled adolescents stuck in a wasteland-esk world filled with anarchical philosophies and drug-induced complacency. To describe this world Cayea continually references the black death of the 14th century, a bacterium/plague that claimed more than 350 million lives. He uses this pandemic as a metaphor for the self-medicating mentality the narrator battles with.
