HyePower Lyrics

[Hook: with Kendrick Lamar]
This right here is {HYE POWER}
Apeh nothin less than {HYE POWER}
From the heart, beat this
Food for thought, eat this
I mean this dish is
Ararat and Massis mountains off in the distance
{HYE POWER}
{Throw ya hands up for HYE POWER}

[Rideout]
Did you ever think that we would get so far?
From the place we used to call home, oh Lord!
Do you still believe that we gon be alright?
Can't predict the future but I tell no lies

[Repeat Rideout]

About

Genius Annotation

Nazo Bravo has stated in interviews that this song is based on Kendrick Lamar’s HiiiPower. Nazo actually met Kendrick before he even released HiiiPower and was inspired by the conversation they had, where Lamar gave Nazo the advice as an up-and-coming artist to “find your own niche”.

This advice became truly realized when Kendrick released HiiiPower as a single and music video. With the content referring to Kendrick’s culture and history and the word “Hiii” sounding identical to “Hye” (which means Armenian), it compelled Nazo to remake the song and talk about his own Armenian culture and history – leading the audience through the Armenian Genocide (where 1.5 million Armenians were massacred in 1915) along with the ripple effects it’s had all the way up to today’s youth.
