Negative Creep Lyrics

[Verse 1]
This is out of our reach, this is out of our reach
This is out of our reach, and it's grown
This is getting to be, this is getting to be
This is getting to be drone

[Pre-Chorus]
I'm a negative creep, I'm a negative creep
I'm a negative creep, and I'm stoned
I'm a negative creep, I'm a negative creep
I'm a negative creep, and I'm...
I'm...

[Chorus]
Daddy's little girl ain't a girl no more
Daddy's little girl ain't a girl no more
Daddy's little girl ain't a girl no more
Daddy's little girl ain't a girl no more
Daddy's little girl ain't a girl no more
Daddy's little girl ain't a girl no more

[Verse 2]
This is out of our range, this is out of our range
This is out of our range and it's crude
This is getting to be, this is getting to be
This is getting to be like drone

About

Genius Annotation

Described by IGN as being a “textbook example of Seattle’s true grunge sound”, “Negative Creep” exemplifies Kurt’s antisocial themes in songs, as this is written from the first person view of himself by his own perception.

This is a rather standout track on both Bleach and in Nirvana’s catalog, as it predominantly has the screeching and high-pitched wails of Cobain over the slick, yet rugged, riff coursing throughout the song, complete with the lyrics to puzzle the whole ‘unsung masterpiece’, as some would define it.

“Negative Creep”, like other Bleach tracks, was played throughout Nirvana’s concerts well into the abrupt end, though to a lesser extent than others. Most notably, it was featured in the Live! Tonight! Sold Out!!, Live at the Paramount (this version was included on the compilation Live from the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah album), and Live at Reading CD/video releases.

Genius Answer

IGN described the track in 2009, saying:

‘Negative Creep’ is the proto-punk Nirvana song your therapist warned you about. It’s a text book example of Seattle’s true grunge sound before the thought of ‘selling out’ ever came into style. You can almost taste the dirty sweat of a mosh pit when you hear the raspy, raw sound of Cobain’s voice echoing the lyrics ‘Daddy’s little girl ain’t a girl no more.’
