The Only Thing I Know Lyrics

"no there isn't"
"yes there is"
"Look at this"
"who would really give a shit?"
"I presume you're an idiot"

- He wants to argue for guns and children
- She won't admit her alcohol addiction
- and their voices get louder
You think they can't hear you
The choice is unconsciously fearful
Of doubting - everything you're taught to
Since you were a child
Believing we're equal

See the look in your eye?
- books of lies
As you tell him that he's arrogant with pride
But he comes back, shoves another word in your mouth
"You don't care what I think about or dare to change minds."

A debate about debates
Arguing about arguing
How the hell did we start this without
Apologizing?

Genius Annotation

So this was one of the tops songs that my allies asked me to analyze, so it shall be done! Overall, this is a song about arguments. I was really inspired by Athene’s “Theory for Everything” video and his explanation on why being wrong was considered an innate weakness, why we fear the unknown, and how we want to prove ourselves to be intellectually correct to show strength. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbh5l0b2-0o I had also just gotten into an argument with my girlfriend at the time, and she actually thought I wrote this to spite her, but I wrote it as an inspiration, not to say she was wrong or right or I was. It’s hard to admit being wrong like it’s hard to admit being weak for everyone. Let’s get into the details, shall we?
